When a female of any age first meets a jerk, she will find him attractive, self-assured, and very sexy. He's an expert at turning on the charm for as long as it takes him to get what he wants.
A jerk knows he looks good. He has his routine perfected. Using techniques polished through frequent practice, he uses flirtation, attention and compliments as bait to lure his potential conquest. He is an expert at quickly weaseling his way into nearly any female heart.
After a woman falls for him, hook. line and sinker, his true personality begins to emerge. He treats her with increasing disrespect. He is rude to her, her friends and her family. He exhibits complete lack of consideration for her feelings.
Soon, he will start flirting with her friends and eventually he'll move merrily on his way to his next conquest, leaving his former fan dangling, confused, and once she realizes he's gone for good, heart-broken.
Why are women attracted to these types of characters?
At first, the jerk appears to be Prince Charming. He treats her like a princess. He makes her feel as beautiful as any movie starlet. He focuses his entire attention on her. He says all the things she's dreamed her soul-mate would say. He goes out of his way to be helpful and soon he progresses to the point where she can't imagine life without him.
To the object of his attention, his most attractive quality is his ability to make her feel special, beautiful, unique and cherished.
She becomes putty in his hands and his mission is successful. Before long, he's off looking for new worlds to conquer.
To the bystanders, those within his social sphere who watch him pull the same antics time after time, with a number of different females, his most attractive quality is that of being a source of amazement and amusement, a type of role model for some of the guys, and a horrible example for the girls.
Everyone in his social circle marvels when he is able to employ identical tactics repeatedly to seduce seemingly-intelligent girls into his nefarious clutches. Even the ones who have seem him in action fall prey to his strategies when he turns his attentions to them.
The guys watch him carefully and try to copy his routines to beguile the girl of their dreams. Fortunately most men have too many principles to imitate his subsequent behavior.
Wise girls regard him as a horrible example of the lowlife males who are just waiting out there to damage their reputations and break their hearts. When being romanced, these ladies will wait to see if what they are seeing and hearing from a lover is real, before they trust him 100% and make a total commitment.
In the final analysis, a jerk has no attractive qualities at all after the bloom of initial enchantment has worn off. The best that can be said of him is that he makes a terrific horrible example. In the grand scheme of possible human qualities, that attribute ranks extremely low on the desirability scale.
